R. López de Heredia Gran Reserva Bosconia 2004

Unhurried and deeply evolved, Bosconia 2004 is López de Heredia doing what no one else does. The Tempranillo-led blend, with Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano from Rioja Alta, spent more than a decade in the house's storied cellars, and the wine is shaped entirely by that choice. Cola, dried herbs, garrigue and old leather drift above a core of cedar and hazelnut, threaded through with that fungal, cellar-floor quality that is the López de Heredia signature. Dry and silky on entry, with coarse-grained tannins that time has smoothed to a gentle grip and a finish that lingers without rushing. This is what patience and conviction in winemaking actually taste like.
