Bass Phillip Pinot Noir Reserve West Gippsland 1999

Tight and brooding, with dark cherry and plum buried beneath smoke and bitter chocolate. The palate shows serious concentration. Layers of cherry, raspberry jam, plum and hints of game. But massive, grainy tannins dominate everything right now. Bass Phillip has proven Gippsland can produce world-class Pinot, and this Reserve will get there. Just not yet. Lock it away until at least 2009.

Bass Phillip

Bass Phillip is Gippsland's benchmark Pinot Noir producer, working a small, cool-climate site in South Gippsland to make some of Australia's most Burgundian-leaning reds and whites.
