Artadi El Pison Riserva 1996

Deep ruby, dense at the core. Roasted blackberry, violet, mocha and cedary oak, a nose of real concentration and generosity. On the mouth, the fruit is rich and sappy, anchored by firm, chewy tannins that grip without closing things down. There's still enough freshness running through it to suggest this single-vineyard Rioja has more to give. Long, plush finish. Drinking well now, but built to go further.
