Full Definition

Typicity describes how faithfully a wine represents its variety, region, or style. A typical Chablis shows Chablis character; an atypical one doesn't. Typicity is valued in traditional regions and wine competitions. Critics debate whether typicity should override quality - can an atypical wine be great?
