Kirchweg sits closer to the Danube, rooted in loess and eroded paragneiss, and the 2023 wears that origin lightly but clearly. Mandarin peel and white blossom open on the nose, with a creamy softness underneath that carries through to the palate. From there, the wine shifts register — stony and focused, with a citrusy zestiness and fine, concentrated pith through the mid-palate. The finish is long and lightly scented, dry and precise. Charming without sacrificing direction.
