From the south-facing Grbe site in Tokaj — first recorded in the 17th century — and grown on water-retentive volcanic andesite, this is Furmint from 60-80 year old, single-stake vines. The nose is all variety: cool apple, linden blossom and a creamy floral softness that feels almost generous. Then the palate pivots sharply — bone-dry, stony and stripped back, as if the wine shed its perfume at the door and got down to business. There's a lovely quiet depth here, a smooth mineral composure rather than anything showy. Pristine and precise.
