Giuseppe Rinaldi Barolo Brunate 2022
Cherry kirsch, menthol, dried herbs and licorice spill out of the glass with real generosity. This is Brunate with a higher proportion of Le Coste than usual — a major parcel of the Brunate vineyard was in serious decline before replanting, and that shift shows in the wine's structure: the acidity is a touch livelier, the tannins more finely drawn than in some prior vintages. Power is present but it's kept in check, the fruit and grip working in tandem rather than at odds. A beguiling, medium-term Barolo — give it time and check back often. Drink 2030–2042.
