Monforte muscle in full display. Dark cherry, graphite, incense and pine resin, with sage and cool mint adding lift to what is a brooding, concentrated nose. On the palate, the wine is dense and structured, classic Gramolere weight, yet the aromatics stay vivid and focused. Still a barrel sample, but the raw material here is compelling. One to watch when it hits bottle.
