Amélie & Charles Sparr Riesling Schoenenbourg Grand Cru 2022

The first vintage where Sparr had enough fruit from his 40- and 50-year-old Schoenenbourg vines to split the ferment, half stainless, half foudre, and the result is quietly impressive. Yellow pear and lemon zest on the nose, creamy but restrained. The palate is lean and driven, with a chalky mineral thread running beneath the citrus fruit, finishing on a clean bite of lemon pith. Needs time to fully resolve.
