Alzinger Riesling Loibenberg Smaragd 2022
From a single elevated parcel on the Loibenberg, shaded by a higher ridge through the warm afternoons, a cooler pocket than the vineyard's reputation might suggest. The nose opens slowly, with a faint trace of reduction that clears to reveal pure, translucent citrus: tangerine one moment, Meyer lemon the next. Lean and tightly-knit on the palate, with a subtle yeast influence that softens the stony backbone and adds a touch of body to what is otherwise a very slender, bright wine. The finish is quiet but definite, zesty and clean, fading gradually rather than abruptly. Purity and precision throughout, bone-dry.
