Zind Humbrecht Gewurztraminer Hengst Grand Cru 2021

Earthy reduction greets you first, then lifts to reveal peach, Mirabelle and a whisper of rose petal. From Zind Humbrecht's two oldest Hengst plots — interwar vines on Oligocene limestone and clay — the old-vine genetics show in the restraint: aromatic, but never showy. The palate is generous and almost lush, that stone fruit richness kept honest by citrus pith bitterness and a clean, dry finish. Structure comes from texture rather than acid, though the acidity is well-judged. Dry and serious.
