The Sadie Family Wines Skurfberg 2021

Whole bunch pressed Chenin from the Skurfberg's ancient vines, aged in three old foudres. White blossom, almond and beeswax on the nose, with a faint thread of candle wax that gains definition as the wine opens up. On the palate it's less about overt fruit than about texture, neutral, almost austere at first, with gentle spice nudging through toward a finish that spreads and firms with quiet authority. Give it air and it transforms, taking on depth and genuine presence. Chenin doing exactly what it does best.
