Dried orange peel, cloves, cardamom and anise open the nose, followed by wild strawberry, mint and a faint thread of crushed stone. Weightless on entry — Nerello Mascalese at its most gossamer — yet there's a taut undercurrent of youthful energy that builds steadily as tart red fruit and volcanic mineral salinity saturate the mid-palate. The finish lands with a firm tannic grip, then stretches long and concentrated, leaving behind traces of sour citrus and inner rose petal.
