Mullineux Straw Wine 2021

Pure Chenin Blanc sourced from Swartland vineyards selected for their malic acid retention — critical in a wine this sweet. Dried on straw mats for three months, barrel fermented to a natural stop at 340g/L residual sugar. Honey, candied orange peel, wild strawberry and a Tokaji-like spiced richness on the nose. On the palate, the texture is dense and glossy, yet the acidity cuts through with quiet authority, keeping everything poised rather than cloying. The finish is long, pure, and seductive. Another outstanding entry in what is becoming one of the Cape's great dessert wine canons.
