Lourens Family Wines Grenache Noir Lua Ilse 2021

Dry-farmed Piekenierskloof bush vines give this 2021 Grenache a nose of dark berry, damp earth and faint inky depth, more brooding than the variety often shows. On the palate it's medium-bodied with a peppery bite at entry, decent harmony and an earthy, grounded character that suits the wine. White pepper carries through to a clean finish. Honest and enjoyable, though it falls short of the panache that the Howard John brings to the same fruit.
