Lourens Family Wines Chenin Blanc Skuinskap Steen Single Vineyard 2021

From a 1977-planted vineyard site at 750m elevation, this single-vineyard Chenin opens with a confident, layered nose, yellow plum, dried mango, beeswax and a faint walnut edge. On the palate, tangy quince and mandarin set up a fresh, well-proportioned frame, with enough weight to feel substantial without tipping into richness. A peachy softness emerges on the finish, leaving the wine in a fine state of balance. Excellent stuff from a site that clearly earns its single-vineyard billing.
