Needs a few minutes to open, but once it does, the 2021 Casanovina Montosoli is something else — balsamic-laced black cherry, cedar, incense and dusty earth woven together with spiced citrus peel. Silky in texture yet genuinely deep, with polished red fruit at the core and a bright mineral thread running through a cascade of inner florals. The finish is classically dry and impressively long, trailing off with wild berry concentration and a subtle licorice echo. This is Brunello in precise balance. Drink 2028–2045.
