Kanonkop Wine Estate Pinotage 2021

Kanonkop's Black Label is Pinotage at its most serious. Dark plum, potpourri, camphor and allspice, with a subtle reductive note that blows off with air. Rich and plush on entry, the 100% new oak is seamlessly absorbed — no rough edges, just depth and weight. Black pepper and clove build through the mid-palate and carry into a long, persistent finish. Not quite as densely packed as the previous vintage, but still among the Cape's finest expressions of the variety. Give it time. Drink 2027–2038.
