Amélie & Charles Sparr Riesling Altenbourg 2021

Closed and reticent on the nose, but what's there is precise, cool lemon, a whisper of chalk. The palate opens things up: taut, bone-dry, with lemon pith texture and a limestone thread running clean through the finish. Sixty- to seventy-year-old vines vinified in steel, and it shows in the purity. Very much in its infancy, but the bones are excellent.
