Restrained on the nose, crushed granite, lemon pith, and little else, which is precisely the point. On the palate it opens up: taut, almost weightless, yet gripping in a way that holds your attention from start to finish. Fifty-year-old vines rooted in near-bare granite at 400m have produced something pared down to its essentials, pure mineral drive, cutting acidity, and citrus precision with nothing extraneous. It tastes like high altitude distilled into a glass. The last fruit harvested, the least embellished wine in the cellar, and arguably the most arresting.
