Albert Boxler Riesling Brand Grand Cru 2021

Fifty-year-old vines in the Brand's decomposed granite give this a grounded, sun-warmed character that sets it apart from Boxler's cooler-site expressions. Preserved lemon and Mirabelle plum on the nose, with a faint earthy undertow that feels distinctly of the place. The palate is rounder and more generous than you'd expect from a bone-dry Alsace Riesling, citrus oil and stone fruit flesh out a sleek, composed frame without any softness creeping in. It's the soil doing the talking, and it's worth listening.
