Fifty-to-sixty-year-old vines on steep Sommerberg granite, where thin topsoil concentrates everything the site has to offer. The nose is guarded — lemon pith and crushed stone, then almost nothing, as if the wine is deliberately withholding. On the palate it earns its reputation: bone-dry, lean, with a chalky, almost abrasive texture that gives the line of acidity something to push against. Wet granite, lemon rind, a firm and relentless drive through the finish. Uncompromising and brilliant.
