Il Marroneto Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Madonna delle Grazie 2020
The first Riserva from Il Marroneto since 2013, and it announces itself with authority. Deep garnet, with an expressive nose of crushed cherry, wild raspberry, spiced orange peel, clove, and white smoke, complex and almost heady. On the palate, the wine is generous and full-bodied, layering dark plum and currant fruit over a velvety framework of tannins that are beautifully shaped without any rough edges. Bright acidity runs like a spine through the wine, keeping all that richness honest, and the finish is long and mineral, crunchy and persistent in the best way. Only 1,000 magnums will exist, bottled June 2025. Cellar through 2035–2050.
