Cavallotto Pinner 2020

An unusual creature — a still Pinot Noir that reads almost like a skin-contact white, its pink-flecked golden-amber color the result of nine months on the lees in stainless steel with daily stirring rather than any rosé winemaking intent. Dried flowers, young mango and crushed stone lift off the glass with dusty charm. Medium-bodied and silky through the mid-palate, it stays lively thanks to zesty acidity and a mineral thread that runs the length of the wine. Ripe orchard fruit and cooling herbal notes carry through to a finish that signs off with lip-smacking sour tropical citrus — bright, refreshing, and just a little unexpected.

Cavallotto

Cavallotto is a family estate in Castiglione Falletto with a near-monopoly on the Bricco Boschis vineyard, producing some of the Langhe's most classically structured Barolos from a single, contiguous hillside site.
