Grown at the summit of this stony southeast-facing slope, the Steingrubler delivers a deceptively quiet nose, pear and white peach, nothing showy. Then the palate opens up: dense, honeyed fruit somewhere between Mirabelle plum and peach jam, with enough lemon acidity to keep it honest. The finish has a pleasing white pepper kick that lingers well past the sweetness. Fermented to 33g/L residual sugar, it sits in medium-sweet territory and wears it well.
