Whole-cluster-pressed Chenin from Olifants River mountain fruit, aged in old foudre. The nose is quiet and considered, chalk dust, dried undergrowth, chai, taking some time to open and show its hand. Once it does, the wine reveals itself as the most restrained and neutral of Sadie's 2019 single-site whites, precise rather than showy, with a flicker of orange zest on the finish to keep things honest. Acidity is finely tuned and the balance is assured. Give it 4–5 years and there's every chance it earns more than its current score suggests.
