Inky and formidable, built more like a mountain Cabernet than typical Merlot. Black fruit, cedar, earth and espresso emerge with serious weight and grip. The volcanic soils of Mount Veeder speak louder than the varietal here. Needs considerable cellaring to soften those muscular tannins. Drink 2030-2045.
