Lourens Family Wines Red Blend Howard John 2019

A whole-cluster blend of 46% Grenache, 27% Cinsault and 27% Syrah from Stellenbosch. The nose is genuinely intriguing, red berry fruit alongside a struck-flint, spent-firework quality that gives it an unusual smoky edge. Fleshy and generous on entry with chewy tannins that grip in a satisfying way, though the finish loses some definition and could use greater clarity to fully deliver on the promise of the front palate.
