Alheit Vineyards Huilkrans 2019

Pure Chenin Blanc from the Olifants River, aged 12 months on lees in 12-year-old, 300-liter barrels. Orchard blossom, quince paste and a faint thread of rosewater on the nose, fragrant and precise. On the palate, it's poised and saline, with citrus peel and a subtle umami quality that makes this as much about texture and suggestion as outright flavor. Fine acidity keeps everything taut, and the finish lingers with composure. Understated and genuinely compelling.
