Mullineux Syrah Granite 2018

Twelve months in French oak followed by nine in second-fill foudre. Dark and brooding on the nose, blackberry, crushed raspberry, white pepper, with a floral edge that opens up gradually. On the palate it's medium-bodied and tightly wound, with firm grip at entry and a compact, almost austere structure. Tarry black fruit, sage and black pepper carry through to a stern, serious finish. The bones are good, but this needs another 2–3 years to fully loosen its grip.
