Günther Steinmetz Riesling Wintricher Geierslay GW 2018

Walnut, white peach, and a faint herbal thread on the nose — complex from the first sniff. Dense and concentrated on the palate, the quartzite-rich slate of the Geierslay lending a stony, almost chalky texture beneath the fruit. Significant residual sugar, yet it reads entirely dry, the acidity and mineral backbone absorbing it without a trace of sweetness. An impressive expression of what this singular vineyard can do.
