Old-school Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet at a high level. Black cherry, clove, licorice, scorched earth and incense tobacco lead, followed by saddle leather and a dark, tarry depth that feels distinctly of this mountain. Dense and tightly-knit right now, with the kind of concentrated structure that demands time, give it four or five years before pulling the cork. A serious, unhurried wine that rewards patience.
