Oddero Barolo Rocche di Castiglione 2017

Rocche di Castiglione in a warm, generous year. Rose petal, dried lavender, kirsch and baking spice unfold with an ease that feels characteristic of the site, perfumed and open from the first pour. The tannins are finely drawn rather than imposing, and the acidity provides enough lift to keep the wine focused. Not a brooding, closed Barolo, this is inviting and expressive now, though it has the structure to reward another five to ten years of cellaring.
