Muga Reserva 2017
Red
Rioja, Spain
7.5
WineSaint
Cherry, dried rose, and warm baking spice on the nose, with a stony undercurrent that emerges as the wine opens up. In the mouth, red fruit — strawberry, kirsch, a thread of pomegranate — shows genuine lift and definition for a wine at this price point. The tannins are firm but well-integrated, providing structure without grip, and the finish is clean, floral, and longer than you'd expect. Worth noting: the 2017 harvest was drastically reduced, and Muga produced only a single red that year — meaning fruit normally destined for Torre Muga and Prado Enea found its way into this bottle. The quality uplift is tangible. Drink now through 2028.
