Benanti Etna Rosso Contrada Monte Serra 2017

Dense volcanic minerality and dried herbs dominate, with red fruit struggling to emerge from the wine's brooding core. The structure feels compressed and angular. A product of the challenging vintage that has left the tannins somewhat austere. There's quality underneath, but Monte Serra needs cellaring through 2024 to find its voice and reveal the elegance this site can deliver.
