Spiced pear, green melon, and dried herbs on the nose, fragrant and a little wild, with a citrus-forward edge that keeps drawing you back. On the palate, the texture is supple and generous, offset by a firm thread of acidity that pulls the sour orchard fruit and lemon pith through to a long, herb-tinged close. The limestone soils of Carso leave their mark unmistakably, a chalky, stony minerality frames everything and lingers well past the last sip. Two years in large Slavonian oak does exactly what it should: nothing showy, just quiet integration and a quiet amplification of the vineyard's character.
