Wieninger Grüner Veltliner Kaasgraben 2016

From old vines on a high-altitude side valley, Kaasgraben's extended hang time shows clearly. Lemon peel, mustard seed and cucumber lead the nose — pungent and precise. There's a striking tension on the palate between a creamy, almost plush texture and the sharp, crunchy bite of apple and salad turnip. Few grape varieties pull off that contrast so convincingly. The finish is long and glowing, driven by citrus and appleseed piquancy that lingers well after the glass is empty.
