Vega Sicilia Valbuena 2016

Dark cherry preserve, cassis and violet pastille on the nose, with pipe tobacco, incense and a dusting of warm spice threading through underneath. Rich and full-bodied, coating the mouth with dense fruit while a bright seam of acidity keeps it from ever feeling heavy. The tannins are plush and well-mannered, building steadily toward a long finish of smoky mineral and dark berry. Valbuena at a serious level. Drink from 2024 through 2038.
