Hirsch Vineyards Pinot Noir Estate The Old Vineyard 2016

Dense, brooding and austere from Hirsch's own-rooted Pommard and Wädenswil selections. Forest floor, wet earth and mushroom overwhelm the buried dark fruit core. The structure feels angular and unresolved, lacking the integration that defines great Pinot. Time may soften the rough edges, but this remains more interesting than enjoyable.

Hirsch Vineyards farms one of California's most remote Pinot Noir sites, a high-elevation ridge above the Sonoma Coast fog line where the San Andreas Fault runs directly beneath the vines.
