Altare's Cannubi opens with kirsch, dried violet, sweet tobacco and a cool thread of menthol and licorice, all the hallmarks of a fine cru. But don't be fooled by the aromatic generosity: the tannins here are firm and grippy, demanding patience. Everything is in proportion, the structure and fruit pulling in the same direction, yet this wine is clearly years from showing its full hand. Drink 2026–2035.
