Bernhard Ott Sauvignon Blanc 2016

Back after weather-related absences in 2014 and 2015, Ott's Sauvignon Blanc returns in familiar form, sharply herbal, phenolic, and unapologetically assertive. Resinous sage, seedy gooseberry, and a briny caper-like piquancy dominate the nose and mid-palate. It's a lean, angular expression of the grape, and not always an easy one. What rescues it is a late-arriving freshness, crisp apple and lime juice cutting through the grip and giving the finish just enough life to hold your attention.
