Bernhard Ott Gemischter Satz 2016
A co-fermentation of eight varieties, Welschriesling, Grüner Veltliner, Sauvignon, Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Neuburger and Muskateller, drawn from around half a dozen parcels, most in Feuersbrunn, with additional fruit from the Engabrunner Stein added this vintage. A meaningful portion of whole berries included in the ferment gives it a lifted, almost greenhouse freshness: white blossoms and green leaf on the nose, followed through with apple, celery stalk and a juicy, saline crunch on the palate. Polished and buoyant, it carries that verdant, floral thread from first sniff to a long, refreshing close. Drink now while the freshness holds.
