Alzinger Riesling Smaragd Steinertal 2016

Saline and smoky from the first sniff, with an alkaline edge that sets the mineral tone before the wine even hits the palate. White peach, crab apple and lime bring juicy brightness and a lively tang, but stone and sea hold the upper hand throughout. The finish is transparent and long, revealing layer after layer of mineral detail, animated at the edges by flicks of peppercorn and mustard seed.
