Paolo Scavino Barolo Monvigliero 2015

Floral, open-knit and immediately appealing, though Scavino's 2015 Monvigliero feels like it's still finding its footing. Violet, dried rose, warm spice and sweet red cherry with a touch of plum flesh come forward easily, this is a pretty, accessible Barolo. The structure is there beneath the surface, with firm tannins and good acidity holding things in reserve. Drink now if you must, but patience will be rewarded as the layers knit together.

Paolo Scavino

A Castiglione Falletto estate synonymous with single-vineyard Barolo, Paolo Scavino built its reputation on Bric dël Fiasc before expanding across some of the Langhe's most sought-after crus. Now run by the second generation, the wines remain precise, structured, and worth seeking out.
