Alheit Vineyards La Colline Vineyard 2015

Interplanted dark- and light-skinned Sémillon, co-picked and co-fermented from La Colline vineyard in Franschhoek. Apple, orange zest, honey and macadamia on the nose, slightly evolved, but intriguingly so. Fuller on the palate than you'd expect from a white, with a velvety, mouth-filling weight and a phenolic grip that adds texture without roughness. Lemon drop and orange peel surface on the finish, which lifts quietly rather than fading. There's more here than the wine is currently showing, give it time in the cellar and it will reward the patience.
