Vega Sicilia Valbuena 2014

Dark cherry, pipe tobacco, vanilla and incense on a deeply perfumed nose, exotic spice drifting through the background. On the palate, ripe dark fruit and floral pastille shift toward chewing tobacco and spice cake, with a thread of cola emerging as it opens up. Lush and concentrated, yet there's real definition here, fine-grained tannins provide gentle purchase without disrupting the wine's natural flow. The finish is long, sweet and increasingly floral, carrying its perfume all the way through. Drinking well now and through the late 2020s.
