Near-opaque purple, almost black at the core. Dark plum preserve, smoked incense, exotic spice and licorice root, the nose is brooding and dense, demanding time. In the mouth it's broad and sappy, loaded with blackberry and blueberry liqueur weight, a spice-cake richness filling out every corner of the palate. With air it opens up considerably, gaining definition and vitality without losing any of that dark, generous fruit. The finish is long and confident, candied dark fruit, smooth tannins woven seamlessly into the structure, with a persistence that simply won't let go.
