Oddero Barolo Riserva Vigna Rionda 2014

Vigna Rionda in a cooler, more graceful vintage. Dried rose, cedar, tobacco leaf and lavender circle a core of sweet red cherry and dark plum, with dried herb and warm spice woven through. The tannins are firm but finely drawn, and there's a depth here that argues strongly for patience, this needs another decade to fully open. The 2014 vintage gets underestimated, and wines like this make that case plainly. Cellar through 2035–2040.
