Dark, brooding ruby — the color alone signals intent. Cherry liqueur, blueberry and woodsmoke open the nose, with violet, vanilla and exotic spice folding in as it opens up, the 24 months in French oak present but well-absorbed. Full-bodied and generous, loaded with dark plum and blackberry, mocha and floral pastille, gaining spice and momentum as it breathes. The tannins are fine-grained and even, wrapping the fruit without crowding it, and the finish is long, oak-spiced and lucid. Best from 2020 through 2032.
