Dark cherry, raspberry coulis, spice cake and a thread of dried rose — the nose is generous and immediately appealing. Twenty-six months in mixed French oak has been absorbed without a trace of wood domination, the fruit staying plush and forward throughout. Juicy and pliant on entry, with a gentle sweetness to the black fruit that tightens into a focused, clean finish. Silky tannins and well-judged acidity hold the whole thing in line. Polished and full of charm.
